The County Tyre Group has had a long-standing association with the earthmover tyre market, initially just looking after the needs of local quarries around Bristol, and at that time the most popular sizes were 1100 x 22, 1100 x 24 and 1400 x 20.
Such sizes of tyre were suited to the large foden dump trucks which were capable of carrying between 15 and 20 ton, representing a far cry from the modern day 100 ton plus dump trucks which use 2700 x 49 tyres and upwards.
In the early 1960's the group acquired its first specialised earthmover vehicle thus allowing them to handle the majority of tyre requirements at the Bristol end of the M4 motorway contract. This truck was in due course superseded and today the company has an impressive fleet of scania trucks which are all equipped with cranes and tyre handlers.
The company now presents a specialist earthmover service from many of its depots throughout the South West, handling some of the largest earthmover tyres, as well as servicing some of the largest industrial groups in the country.
Each of the company's earthmover tyre service engineers undergo one of the most extensive training programmes in the industry and only after years of experience under instruction are they permitted to fit tyres on their own.
